Library Services: Disabilities

Describes services available from the libraries at Atlantic Cape.

Services to Patrons with Disabilities

Atlantic Cape is committed to fostering a culture in which differently abled students can thrive. The libraries offer services and technological solutions to help students to gain access to the content of the collections, resources, and programs we offer. The library collaborates with the Center for Accessibility to ensure that students have access to the information resources they need to succeed in their studies at Atlantic Cape.

Physical Access

  • All three libraries are wheelchair-accessible. The elevators in Spangler Library require a key. Please ask any staff member for assistance.
  • Accessible restrooms are located outside but near to each of the libraries.
  • Need help retrieving material from the print collections? Any staff member will be happy to help.
  • The library has assistive technology on the premises to make print resources available to students with visual or neurological challenges.

Screen Readers

  • Screen readers and ZoomText are available on all library computers.
  • Some full-text material from the library's databases may not be friendly to screen readers. If you encounter a problem, please let us know. The libraries and the Center for Accessibility will work together to resolve the problem.

Reference Service and Research Consultations

  • Need research assistance? We can meet with you in the library or online. Learn more about research consultations.

Library Instruction

  • Is your class scheduled for library instruction? Help your instructor remember to let us know about accommodations that you need. If you use specialized equipment, we may need a day or two to arrange delivery to the library. If you need to have slides or handouts in advance of the session, or in Large Print, we'll be happy to do that.
