Atlantic Cape Libraries information on services for Fall 2020.

Welcome

Welcome to the Atlantic Cape Community College Libraries. We're here to help you succeed in all your classes.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, library services on campus will be limited for the Fall 2020 semester, but we are still here. Many of our services have moved online, to protect you and your families, as well as our staff.

Library Services

In the library or online, librarians are here to help with research questions. Visit the library by appointment, or talk to us online.

  • Send your questions to us at library@atlantic.edu. We are checking this mailbox Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, and regularly on weekends.
  • Chat with us on Google Hangouts, at library@atlantic.edu. We are online Monday-Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Give us a few minutes to answer; we might be chatting with another student.
  • Set up an appointment for an in-depth research consultation through Zoom or Blackboard Collaborate. Email library@atlantic.edu to request an appointment for a consultation.

This semester, the library is open only by appointment. Want to come in? Please fill out our online form to request an appointment.

  • We are currently limiting admission to no more than five patrons at a time. Only Atlantic Cape students, faculty, and staff will be admitted to the library. Guest borrowers should use the facilities at their local public library.
  • Visits are limited to one hour.
  • Before visiting the library, everyone will be required to fill out the standardized campus health assessment.
  • All visitors to the library are required to wear face coverings that adequately cover both nose and mouth, and to practice social distancing, as per the orders of the governor. Please cooperate to help us keep each other safe.

Faculty - Help your students to become effective researchers and knowledgeable information consumers.

  • Book a session with a librarian for your remote (synchronous) class. This works best in connection with a project, assignment, or in-class exercise that uses library research skills. Send email to library@atlantic.edu at least one week before your preferred date to request an online instruction session.
  • Teaching online (asynchronously)? We can still be part of your class. The librarians are working on developing material that can be incorporated into your Blackboard class. We can create material customized to your assignment, just as for a synchronous class. Send email to library@atlantic.edu at least two weeks in advance of the time when you plan to assign the material.

Borrow Books from the Library

Want to borrow a book from the print collections?

You must have a library card! You can register online!

Two Options for Borrowing Books:

Contactless Pickup

Using the library catalog, identify books you would like to borrow. Call or e-mail the library with a list of titles.

Library@atlantic.edu or 609-343-4951

Library staff will retrieve the book(s) and arrange for you to pick them up.

Books by Mail

Don't live near campus? Don't have transportation? Just don't have time?

We can send you books through the postal service. Follow the directions above to request the items you need. When you hear from the library about arranging pickup, you can request that the items be mailed to you.

Planning Ahead

Please allow some extra time for books to be ready for pickup or delivery.

Returning Books

Library books may be returned to the book drop at any campus library or at any Atlantic County Library System (ACLS) branch. Please allow extra time for materials to be removed from your record. No fines will accrue.

Safety First!

When books and other materials are returned to the library, they are placed in isolation for a designated period of time before being returned to the shelf. Materials delivered to Spangler Library by other libraries are also quarantined in the same manner. When returning books to the shelf or handling books to prepare for patron pickup, all library staff wear gloves and masks, to prevent any possible contamination.

Protocols for quarantining library materials are based on research from the REALM Project.
